Hmmm.
Don't get me wrong I'm all for this holiday, especially now that I'm a mother. But this past Mother's Day I was pretty annoyed by social media. So. many. Pictures!! Of kids! Of other peoples mothers!! Sheesh! Maybe I was in a bad mood...
It just made me feel sad for those who so desperately want kids but can't get pregnant, or those who have had miscarriages, or children who have past away, or especially those who have lost their own Mother. Thinking of those in these situations just made me feel different and sad about this "holiday". Maybe I'm just over thinking...
I've seen a lot of people post "I love being a mom! Best Job ever!" Y'all I love being a mom...most days. And it is a great "job" but in my experience/opinion it's a really hard, fun, demanding, loving, emotional, frustrating "job" I've ever had. But I can say it is very rewarding, humbling, self aware to be a mom and to love your kids so much it hurts. Maybe those people who say that for them it actually is the "best" job! I mean what about those women who don't have kids, they aren't mom's but can still have the "best" job with whatever job they do have. Maybe I'm being to critical...
I will leave you with this. On Mothers Day I enjoyed a yummy breakfast with friends that we had visiting in town. I ate way too many crunchy Cheetos at lunch, took a nap, a family adventure to Rice University and ate Vietnamese food for dinner. It was a very nice and pleasant day! Nothing fancy, but was great to be with friends and with my own little family. Maybe it was just a fun day...
