Favorite Things Girls Weekend

In February I got together with my best girlfriends from college.  Every year we try to get away once or twice from our everyday lives and spend a weekend together! We have SO much fun!!

This year we met in Wimberly at Corrie's parents cabin. It was so cozy, with a actual logs running through the house, a loft, a wrap around porch, its next door to an equestrian center and on a few acres!  It was so relaxing to enjoy the quite, watch the horses and catch up with friends.

I met up with Amanda and Corrie on Friday afternoon at the San Marcos outles. We shopped, talked and ate!

Saturday all the girls and I had planned a "favorite things" party. Nothing too extravagant but everyone was to bring 7 of the same favorite thing to give to each girl that was there! It was fun and cute...and a surprise pregnancy announcement was included! (Not me!)

My loot

Here is what was given: Dry Shampoo (Nikki), Sharpie markers (Amanda), EOS lip balm (Kim), Tea and chia seeds (me), tea bag buddy (Corrie), pesto sauce (Jessie), and Lindt chocolate truffles (Grace).

We spent the afternoon touring our old stomping grounds of our alma mater, San Marcos and Texas State.  We ate at a favorite college restaurant, Grins, went to our favorite coffee shop, Mochas and Javas, and drove past our old apartments.

Of course we stayed up too chatting around a campfire and laughing our heads off! I love our long weekends together! I'm so excited to welcome 3 babies this year into this group of friends, which means we will get to see each other soon!

CYP girls dinner

I have been friends with Kimmy, Kim and LeighAnne since 7th grade. That means for 16 years! Growing up it was often Christmas night we would end up together at the movies, at each others houses or all talking on the phone at the same time.

So somewhere down the line we started "CYP girls dinner". This year we had a delicious dinner and chatted the night away. It was fun catching up and just being together. I hope we can always do these, even when we are old and gray! Love you girls so much!

Eacho Wedding

What a weekend!  We had such a wonderful wedding weekend! Derek and Nikki got hitched!! We went to college with these two love birds, and they actually started dating before us.  Everyone was excited to see them tie the knot this past weekend, six years is a long time!  Derek and Nikki are so fun, thoughtful and caring friends. We couldn't be happier that the Lord has brought this couple into marriage!

I wish I could post more/better pictures...but look for them on facebook.

Girls Weekend

My college girl friends and I try to get together for a weekend or weekend lunch as many times possible in a year!  This weekend took place in San Marcos/Wimberley and it  was a special one in many ways...it was the first time in three years ALL 8 of us were together! Hip Hip Hooray!

Friday: I took a slight detour before coffee to drive through campus, drive down San Antonio street, see the Herdon house and White Castle.  I  then met up with Amanda, Corrie (and Maggie) at our favorite place coffee shop, Mochas and Javas , where we would "study" in college. The owner still remembers us!

Coffee + Girl time = Happy Camper

We then headed to The Wimberley House to get ready for the other girls and decorate.  (We surprised our little preggo Grace with a "Children's Book" themed baby shower. )  We also got the surprise of a lifetime that Nikki had been proposed to the night before!!!!! She wanted to wait to tell us in person to see all of our crazy reactions:
We so excited, so excited!

Pretty Bride to Be :)

After a night of chatting, laughing and eating way to many pizza rolls, guacamole, bagel bites, and pita chips we finally headed off to sleep, but only before Jessie killed a scorpion.

Saturday: We awoke to a morning lounging around and finally got it together to go to the Blanco River.  It is about a mile walk from the house.  We had the whole place to ourselves!! We spent 3 hours in the water hanging out and talking.
Toobing on the river

We ended the night in San Marcos at River Pub and Grill for dinner watching the sun go down and families playing at Rio Vista Park.
Girls4Life!

Sad to say I didn't have my camera for the end of the night, we hit up the Square for drinks and a long night of karaoke! It was so much fun for making new memories together!

Can't wait for the next one!

Weekend Recap

Once again I was blessed to spend the weekend with my best girlfriends from college! Time and time again I'm so thankful for these girls in my life and how much we care about each other and have fun together. Friday night was spent eating way to much chocolate fondue, eating delicious appetizers from our personal Chef Lindsey, all while catching each other up on life. Of course we stayed up waaaaay to late! (The last time I was up that late was the last girls weekend!)

We all woke up Saturday to cold, windy and overcast morning. So we just lazed around until we got hungry and ventured out to Laredo's for excellent breakfast tacos. (My dad has been going to this place for years and brings home the tacos sometimes....seriously delicious!)We decided to stick to the plan to go to 19th street First Saturday though it was so cold and windy. But we found shelter in the cute antique shops, boutiques, and thrift stores. I did a little shopping and purchased a pair of cowboy boots!
Yeehaw Ya'll!

I have been wanting boots for a while now and since I've lived in Texas for 16 years and have never owned a pair, I thought it was high time to finally buy them. There were so many in the thrift store we went into and they ALL fit perfectly! (I later talked to a store associate and he said they bought 15 of the cowboy boots from the same lady!) It was a hard decision but with the help of my girls I decided on a pair of turquoise Wrangler boots. I can't wait to wear them to the Houston Rodeo later this week! We headed back to Nikki's, laid around, watched youtube videos, ate "pizza bagels" (as Grace called them) and eventually got ready for a late dinner.

Kim had a recommendation from a co-worker to try Farrago for dinner.
We headed to midtown in my "mini-mini" and enjoyed a delicious dinner. The menu was full of different options such as pizza, pad thai, and goat cheese salad. I had crispy calamari to start (1/2 off appetizer night!) and for dinner tuna tacos served with a tasty wasabi sauce. A little bit of Asian meets Mexican flavor! Yum!

Then for a sweet tooth we went to Dessert Gallery while I tasted everyone else's dessert :)

Once we got back we were video chatted with Corrie since she wasn't able to make it. Yay, technology! We filled her in on all the funny stories, topics discussed and how much we missed her.

It's always bittersweet on Sunday to see everyone leave to go home. I'm fortunate enough to live in the same city with 3 of the other girls. All in all a great weekend filled with good times, funny stories and lots of giggles.

Until next time :)

Whats Happenin'

Happy 2011!
What's been going on? Well we brought in the new year with some of our BFFs in Houston. There was lots of music, dancing and funny memories! Double the one, double the fun!

I've been going on a lot of walks in our new neighborhood. Our complex has a pretty lake in the middle of it, so gives me no excuse to get in some exercise! Check out this HUGE leaf from the cottonwood (I think?) trees:

I've been enjoying meal planning and cooking again. While living at my parents I didn't mind my Dad doing most of the cooking, it was delicious and convenient, but it wasn't always what we wanted to eat. Here is a pic from last night's dinner: Baked Salmon, sauteed asparagus, with whole grain and wild rice! We all loved this, even V!

And now that Violet is a full fledged walker, she is on the go and keeps us on our toes! She is actually 11 months today, on 1-11-11! woah! :) She keeps showing us more and more personality. She has this fake laugh that is hilarious and has started fake crying which is even funnier! She is so curious, a smartypants and jabbers all day long! Here she is showing off matching outfits with her doll "Deena" that my Aunt sent her for Christmas.
And sadly I dont have any pictures, but girlfriends and I took a day trip to Round Top, Texas. It was the perfect meeting point for the ATX girls and us Htown girls to meet. Though Round Top is a very very small town we still had a fun time eating, catching up, laughing and window shopping.

So far 2011 is off to a wonderful start!

Girls Weekend!

This past weekend my best college girls got together for another girls weekend! I'd like to say our annual or monthly weekend...but it wasn't, just a fun weekend with the girls! We just try to spend a weekend together as often as we can! Amanda and her Hubs, JP, recently moved to Marble Falls and hosted us all at her new pad! (which is super cute!) Bryson semi-attended; but at the Lake with JP...and babysat V while us girls went swimming! Thanks B!

Mandi has told us how pretty it is out there at Lake Buchanan, but until you see if for yourself you really can't imagine it! JP took all us girls out on the boat and dropped us off here:

We swam, sang songs, went under the falls so many times, got freaked out about snakes and fish (okay that was just me), and imagined we were in Bora Bora....

Later in the afternoon we all went to the famous Bluebonnet Cafe! I definitely ate my portion of Chicken Fried Steak! so delish! They are known for their pies...as you can see in the picture Kim and Nikki are holding a box.

We stayed up waaaay to late both nights laughing, talking, watching Lady GaGa videos, making Kim tell us more Aunt Kathleen stories and eating sweets! We may have had a few heated discussions about Labradoodles and Shannon GaGa...I apologize, I brought those up! Sorry Grace :) It was such a fun weekend to connect with these girls again! I really needed it! I'm so thankful for their friendships! I really L-O-L-O-L-O-V-E each one of them so much! (Jessie and Lindsey included!) I'm glad our friendship has extended and continues to grow even when we dont live in the same apartment like college! Looking forward to when we can all be together again!

Violet was such a good girl the whole trip! Her Aunties really spoiled her with too many hugs and kisses! On the way home Kim, Bryson and I stopped at Jack in the Box and this is what happened:

She pressed onion rings...so we got them for free! haha!
