CYP girls dinner

I have been friends with Kimmy, Kim and LeighAnne since 7th grade. That means for 16 years! Growing up it was often Christmas night we would end up together at the movies, at each others houses or all talking on the phone at the same time.

So somewhere down the line we started "CYP girls dinner". This year we had a delicious dinner and chatted the night away. It was fun catching up and just being together. I hope we can always do these, even when we are old and gray! Love you girls so much!

Dashing through the snow

Okay so not really dashing through the snow, but more so the week! For starters we had a wonderful Christmas with my family. We opened presents, ate, relaxed, played games, ate some more, and enjoyed each other.
Christmas 2011
I don't think I have mentioned this on here before but my Sister is also pregnant...and due on the EXACT same day! Though I'm having a c-section a week before our due date, its just amazing/crazy that we can both be due the same day!  We are both currently 27 weeks along.
Sisters and Baby Bump Cousins
The day before Christmas Violet started to develop a nasty cough with wheezing, but she was acting like her silly self. Thankfully her pediatrician office was open the next day and we went right over.  Poor thing had to do a breathing treatment, but luckily Bryson had the day off to go with us and pictures on my iPhone entertained her for the time.

At the Doctor
Isn't that picture horrible looking! It really isn't has bad as it looks, she wore the mask for like 5-10 mins and then it was over. This was her second time having to do a breathing treatment at the doctor, and the second time her body didn't respond to it.  So the doc concluded it is either RSV or a developing pneumonia.  But.....because she isn't showing full symptoms of either one he didn't want to over diagnose or give her meds when it wasn't needed. We're on watch over her to see if she is breathing normally at night or if her cough/wheezing gets worse.  Thankfully she has been sleeping better at night and she is acting normal.

Yesterday I celebrated our annual "CYP Christmas" with Kim and Kimmy (we were missing LeighAnne) We have been friends since 7th grade and have shared to many Christmases together! We had a yummy lunch at Tiny Boxwoods and exchanged gifts.  I'm so glad we have this little tradition of getting together at the end of the year.

It's been a great week so far, but it's time for me to dash to get our place ready for our weekend guests!

C-Y-P

I'm pretty sure this picture is 2002, the summer we graduated high school and it must be Kimmy's bday bc she is wearing a ribbon :)

I told Bryson the other day that I had been friends with Kim, Kimmy, and LeighAnne for the past 14 years He responded by "I haven't known or kept in touch with anyone that long besides my family!" It's true. We've been friends a long time!! These girls are so special to me, it's crazy how well we know each other and how many memories we have together. We could probably sit in a room with each others family, without that friend there, and not feel weird, that's how well we know each other and their families. Even though we dont see each other as much as we would like to or live as close to each other, we are always there for each other, we were all bridesmaids in each others weddings, we have gone to school together since 7th grade, we have so many pictures together, we were in the same homecoming and prom groups, we cry together, laugh together and dance together :) Here's a little story about each one of these girls:

Kim "Arellano" Smullen

Far left, in pink! Pink is Kim's favorite color...it's in her email address, it was in her screen name, and she has many pink things in her kitchen! Kim is the most recent bride, having married her high school sweetheart Dan! She and I have a "friend anniversary" October 26, 1996 ,it was the first time we hung out. In 7th grade we had 2 classes together band and computer lit. Because our last names started with "A" we were partners in Computer Lit...we didn't really like each other at first. (and Kimmy was in this class with us too!) Our families ended up being friends too and since our sisters were the same age, we'd all have a good time. Kim is a great 3rd grade teacher and loyal friend. A few things I remember with Kim are making fires in on Rosetta Dr at new years, eating corn, the blue van, her mom taking us to see Titanic, trampolines, Texas State, driving around in the blue mustang, Karaoke in her garage, and recently while dancing at her wedding (and after a few drinks) she pointed and said "i love you!" :)

Kimmy "Nguyen" Newman

This picture was taken at Kimmy's oldest sister, Huong's, wedding in 2007. The fun thing about this picture is we are now all married!! Huong also carries the honor of naming our group "the posse". And the reason I wanted this one is because Kimmy LOVES jackets! Yes, she is the one wearing the white jacket! I'm pretty sure Kimmy and I became friends because we were both Asian. lol! Kimmy and group of other Asian girls were going to take Star Shot photos and well I'm Asian and so I was invited! I know it sounds crazy but besides the memory of Kimmy in my computer lit class, this is the other first memory of how we became friends! She is very caring and giving person! Almost every time I see her she is either feeding me or giving me something....or both! Kimmy gave me my very first Easy Bake Oven for christmas on year too! She is a good baker too! Since we graduated high school we have not lived in the same town. We would all hangout on holidays back in cyp and we made a couple of trips to see each other in college...but most importantly we would talk on aim everyday! But today we finally live in the same city! I'm so thankful that we've been able to hangout almost every week!

LeighAnne "Coley" Liu

I believe this is the most recent picture of us all at Kim's rehearsal dinner. LeighAnne is in the blue, between Kim and Kimmy. LeighAnne and I were both clarinet players in band. Actually she stole my chair in 7th grade...thats how our friendship started! And our sister's became friends in high school and later were college roommates too. She and I were together a lot because of band stuff and we stayed in Cypress for the frist semesters of college too. LeighAnne is a good listner and very sweet! She use to drive this big 'ol gold truck! It was super loud and only maxed to only 80mph! We spent many weekend nights in high school hanging out at Starbuck's across from the mall to meet up with friends. We have made up a countless amount of dance moves together and have them on film.

The girls came to visit us a week after I had Violet! I only pray that she will have friends who love her and know her as well as you girls do.

3 weeks

We have been parents for 3 weeks now! Time really has flown by, I mean I feel like we've had her longer than that. Anyways in no particular order here are a few things that I have learned/realized in the past couple of weeks:

-Always nap when Violet is napping. At least one a day...
-Bad directions + a crying baby = a crying mom and crying baby who doesn't make their appointment
-Remember to shower
-I thought during pregnancy I was hungry...breastfeeding burns on average 500+ calories a day, so always eat and drink lots.
-Speaking of food, I've been craving salads the past 3 weeks.
-When I start to make a meal/snack by the time its ready to eat it seems Violet will cry/fuss...so I gotta be quick.
-Getting out/running an errand by myself feels strange.
-Not sleeping 6-8 hours at night is now normal. But at least V is on a 4 hour schedule at night.
-Always accept help
-My mom tears up almost every morning when I bring Violet downstairs.
-Making the "shhhhhhh" sound loudly calms V.
-Running water sometimes make V sleep.
-I got a CD alarm clock a few years ago that has nature sounds on it. It's been wonderful!
-Sometimes I confuse the sounds of Violet and my parents cat Gary
-Baby girls will pee on you when you change them, it's not just baby boys.
-My pre-pregancy clothes still dont fit and it's okay it's only been 3 weeks.
-Be nice to Bryson

Changes

Well today has come and is almost gone. We've been anticipating V-day, 1-28-2010, since May when we found out we were pregnant. I seriously cannot believe I've been pregnant for 280 days!! That's a loooong time! But the doctor said we'll wait one more week and see if "mother nature takes its course", and if not make further decisions about inducing next week. I've looked up a natural labor induction techniques...some of them are kinda of weird, but I think I'll try a few :) Bryson and I are so anxious to meet our little girl!! I want to see what she is like, what her smile looks like, if she has hair yet, cuddle with her. I told her today durning breakfast it's okay to come out now :) We've set up the pack 'n play (what she will sleep in the first couple of weeks) next to our bed and I wake up trying to picture a little baby in there... we'll just have to be patient for a few more days.
Along with the big change of about to become parents, we have another change happening...Bryson has taken a job in Houston as a project manager a commerical building property restoration company!! We are sooo soo excited about this opportunity! We've been praying for about 6 months for a job for Bryson, and specifically for one before Violet is born. After his interview we were just so happy it went well, and I told him I felt like God is taking care of us. And this past Monday was his first day! It is very bittersweet to move away from Austin, our community in the Eastside, our friends, Juan in a Million, Townlake, Austin Stone Community Church, our first home, and so much more!! Even as we began to finish the baby room in our house a few weeks ago, I just had this feeling that it wouldn't be set up for long...So after Violet is born we will be packing our things and making the move to Houston. It's a little strange to move back to a town I grew up in, but kinda of cool I get to experience it now as an adult. We are really thankful to have family and friends in Houston, so we wont be alone in this new change in our life!

The Newmans

This weekend was the wedding of Ryan and Kimmy!!! It was a beautiful beautiful day!! Since I've been married, I just really enjoy weddings and especially when they are close friends. I think because I know what it means/is like to be married and I'm just so happy my friend gets to experience the joy that God has created in a marriage. Kimmy and I have been friends since about 7th grade, so it was really cool to see her as a bride and remember memories of us growing up. They had a Vietnamese wedding with a Tea Ceremony in the morning (where the Grooms family brings gifts/food and there are speeches from the fathers), then the church ceremony (it was cool cause it was a full catholic mass and half was spoken in Vietnamese) and then the Reception at Kim Son (we had a 9 course Vietnamese meal, and then cake and dancing!) Congrats to you two! Love you very much!

Here are a few pics....

Reception...I didn't get too many, but the cakes were beautiful, especially the awesome Rubic Cube Grooms cake...you can see it in the corner of the pic.

And this is the CYP girls! :) We've all been in each other's weddings and our "last" one is Kim's in 3 months! woohoo
