When I tell people the title of this book, it shockes me that they have never heard of Molokai! Because my dad lived in Hawaii, my parents have a condo there and I've been there a few times...I just grew up knowing/learning about the Hawaiian culture. So growing I've learned that Molokai is an island in the Hawaiian island chain and that back in the day the island was used as a leper colony. This book is about what it was like for the character for the character rachel to live wiith the diease. Molokai (the book) includes what is going on historically in hawaii the early 1900s. It was an easy read and I was eager to finish because I was due any day. I finished the book while rocking baby v to sleep. This book was a great read...it had me laughing crying scared and anxious! Go ahead and read it!
