The past two weeks we have all been on and off sick! I started feeling really tired with a slight cough that then turned into a high fever. Bryson had a tummy bug. Violet had an ear infection and major coughing. Parker's old double ear infection never healed and he was a mess. And then Bryson's allergies started acting up and was diagnosed with asthma and pneumonia! Whew!! So we all have been on some form of an antibiotic, have gone through about 10 boxes of Kleenex and all are a coughing mess.
All that to say our pediatrician is our new best friend as well is our local pharmacy.
Since we have been confined to the house I have realized a few things about sickness:
1. Always have soup! You never know when you will get sick and it's always a bummer. Eating soup is filling and makes you feel good, so next time you go to the store go ahead and pick up your favorite soup.
2. Get dressed. Though we rarely left the house just getting myself and the kids dressed made me feel a little more productive.
3. Take a shower. A hot shower/steam is a sure way to clear you up a bit (especially if you add a few drops of your favorite essential oil like lavender, peppermint or eucalyptus) A shower makes you feel better and more productive.
4. TV time. We have watched so much PBS kids and Disney junior! I mean what else can you do when both you and your kids are sick?!
5. Cleaning. Once I was feeling better i started to disinfected everything! Door knobs, we changed our air filter, washes all blakets/sheets, bathrooms, carpet....everything! Always have Lysol and or other cleaning supplies on hand!
6. Sleep. Since we were all sick at the same time, we were all exhausted! The kids were going to bed an hour earlier and a few times Bryson and I ready and in bed by 8:30pm!! We have had long nights with the kids crying, throwing up or coughing. So we knew we needed to get as much sleep as possible whenever we could.
In three weeks we went to the doctor 6 times and the ER 1 time! Hoping we are on the mend for the month of April.
