When I was little my mom would never "let" me or my sister have long hair. By "let" I mean, we just always had short hair. It was probably more easy for my mom to manage. I remember in 6th grade I told her I wanted to grow out my bangs...cause that's what all the cool kids were doing. And still I haven't had bangs since! In high school and early college I let my hair grow pretty long! It was finally longer than my usual shoulder length hair! Junior year in college it was probably to the middle of my back. I had thought about donating to Locks of Love the, but when I went to get a trim, I ended having Sandi (hair dresser at Calcutta's on The Square in San Marcos) cut it and I really didn't know all the requirements for donating hair.
Now that my hair is long again, I really want to donate! I've like that Locks of Love is a nonprofit, gives to children under 18, promotes self confidence and normalcy for children who have lost their hair. And most of all they give to financially disadvantaged, the children receive hair prostheses free of charge or on a sliding scale, based on financial need. Anyways, I will donate! promise! I meet all the requirements for the hair donations, except for the minimum of 10 inches of hair. (I think in a low ponytail, my hair if cut right above the rubber band is 9...) So I will continue to grow until Im ready to cut for a new length.
