This is my first April Book. Hopefully I'll have a chance to read another one. I had previously read Alan Brennert's first book molokai in February and really liked it! My mom picked up Honolulu for me at the library and I was on my way! It is about a Korean girl wanting more in her life and thinks she can get that by being "mail order bride" to a man in America. She has many struggles being Korean and a woman in America in the early 1900's. There is so much hatred that went on with racism in Hawaii that I had no idea about! It was a good read for a few days. My mom really liked this book, mostly because she is really familiar with the different areas of Honolulu. Overall I liked the story of Molokai better....but you should read both and make your own decision :)
