I've been a mom for almost 3 months. A lot of people ask "so how's it being a mom?" or "hows mommyhoood?" or "do you like being a mom?" I'd say at the beginning (when we moved to Houston) it was all exhausting and little boring. Violet was 2 weeks old and slept a lot! And just moving from Austin where we lived 2 blocks from 10 close friends and a town with some of our best college friends...it was just me at home so I slept a lot too! So yes at the beginning it was boring because she slept, I would sleep and everything was just so new. Learning how to put her to sleep, give her a bath, breastfeeding and figuring out what her cries meant...all these were exhausting! But now that Violet is a little bigger and awake more it's been more fun! I actually can play with her now :) The past couple of weeks she has had her own schedule that we've been following. Its been SO great to have her sleep for 5 or more hours at night. Here is a "loose" schedule of the past couple of weeks. I'll start with bed time cause then it makes more sense...at least to me
9:00pm- bedtime
4:30am- feeding and right back to bed
7:30am- feeding and playtime
9:00am- nap
10:00am- feeding and playtime
11:30- nap
12:30- feeding and playtime
2:00pm- nap
5:00pm- feeding and playtime
6:30pm- nap
7:00- feeding and playtime
9:00pm -bedtime
This schedule is subject to change at anytime...but it's the "norm" for right now. Some days she is up a little longer or sleeps shorter or longer during naps. It's always changing. It's a little difficult to run a lot errands at this young of an age because they are only awake for at least 2 hours (well for me its difficult, some people can do it)...at least Violet will be in a good mood for that long...and 2hours is pushing it for her! So some weeks, I only even leave the house (in a car) maybe once or twice! i know, it's crazy. It's a lot different from before! We go outside for walks...but it's just hard to travel/do anything that is going to interfere with nap/feeding times. It's definitely has been a little easier now than 2months ago. Mommyhood is a rhythm that I'm still in the process of learning and hope to continue to be willing to learn.

Oh Marisa,
It's so scary those first few months. But each month it gets better and better. And a little less scary.
I cant wait for Violet to meet Danny. I'm sure they will be best friends.
Is she smiling yet? Or cooing? I bet she's still light as a feather. Ah, the days when Danny was still a tiny little thing.
