**ill have to upload pictures later...once again our laptop keeps messing up**
We celebrated our anniversary this year a week early due to babysitting availability (yay grandparents!) our actual anniversary is June 7.
We really enjoy mini staycations. We try to to have a little "just us getaway" twice a year. We don't have to travel far but can still enjoy the perks of our city, and an overnight in a hotel is always more enjoyable than staying in your own house.
I planned lunch for us at Choo Choo Sushi. It's a restaurant with a moving conveyor belt of sushi going by your table. It was a fun and delicious experience! (Also very inexpensive!)
Next, we walked around a nearby REI and spent some time wandering around Barnes and Nobel. It was so nice and refreshing to not have a schedule or have a kid tugging at you! I haven't been alone in a bookstore in quite some time.
We made it to our hotel and literally right as we get to our room we recived a text from my mom saying its hot in the house even though the AC is on. A little frustrated, but thankfully we were only 20mins from home, we drive back and asses the problem. My mom said that they had a mini power outage and since then the temperature inside kept rising. So we help my parents pack up the kids to go to their house in Cypress. A co-worker of Bryson's installed the AC unit and said he'd come the next day to look at it. We get back to the hotel jump into bed and I fall asleep reading and Bryson watches a movie. So relaxing!
Eventually we get hungry and Bryson drives us to one of our favorite pizza places, Star Pizza. The deep dish starburst pizza with wheat crust is so delicious. We had a really good conversation about our marriage, things we like, things we want to change, things we want to incorporate in this next year.
The next morning I didn't wake up until 9:30am. 9:30 AM! This never happens!!!! It was a reminder of what it was like before we had kids and waking up on a Saturday at our own pace and doing things our way. Oh, how it has changed! But it was sooo refreshing to have a really restful night. We spend brunch at Tiny Boxwood's. It was a cute little restaurant with over priced food. The atmosphere was cozy, but the people there were kinda of annoying. haha! I'd go there again, but maybe just for coffee and a cookie. The BEST chocolate chip cookies ever! (I got mine free bc we had a long wait)
We stop by our house and the AC is fixed and we make our way to pick up the kids in Cypress. We end the night by starting to paint the breakfast nook. All in all, it was a relaxing and productive weekend. I'm reminded how thankful I am to have married Bryson. Our marriage has grown and we have changed. We could not do this marriage without the help from God. Here's to another year (and many many more) to come!
